Tara's story

Tara was where it all began for our family. We picked her up at Manchester Championship Show in early 1978. She was four and a half months old, half-wild and completely untrained and lacking in social skills. What followed was a voyage of discovery for her novice owners.

Tara was fiercely independent and aloof all her life, yet she pined if her human family went away. She would sit on your foot to be close to you, yet move if you tried to make a fuss of her. She was extremely intelligent and everything was on her terms. Yet she was loyal, in her own way.

A big, masculine bitch, she did not set the show ring alight when she finally entered it at two years of age. But she had a very good pedigree and a famous and beautiful sire, the lovely Vikynn. So her linebred offspring, sired by Kestos Tryg of Danelaw, were of remarkably good quality, and she was the dam of the first home-bred Kinderhorn Champion, Seb and the matriarch of a dynasty that went through another three generations.
