MINNIE'S STORY
Minnie was the litter sister to our Raider. As a small puppy, Minnie was known as "The Lilac Bitch", as that was the colour of the wool collar round her neck. Minnie was named after Minnie Driver (Driva, get it?). Minnie was also the name of Mum's childhood best friend.
Minnie was a lovely girl, full of fun and very, very friendly. She was a natural clown, and liked lying back in her humans' arms for a cuddle.
She was a very sweet natured girl, who never really liked the show ring and had been retired for a number of years after developing a fixation with flies. She’d obviously been stung by a bee or a wasp, and she would whirl round and round trying to follow the course of their flight, locked in like a missile. Handling her in Scotland one year, a wasp flew in and landed on my shoulder. Minnie hadn’t noticed it, so I had to stand there with the wasp buzzing near my left ear until it flew away to bother someone further down the line.
Despite her dislike of the ring, Minnie had some success there and attained her Stud Book Number. She caught the judge's eye on occasion as she had a square outline, good length of leg and an attractive head with a friendly expression and a hint of mischief in those dark eyes!
Minnie obviously couldn't bear to be left behind by her litter brother, and she followed him over the Rainbow Bridge just 12 days after his death.
